LG Optimus L5 II worldwide roll out begins

Two weeks ago LG started the global roll out for its Optimus L3 II smartphone and prior to that the Optimus L7 II device, which went on sale in Russia first. Now, the Korean manufacturer is making available the third and final phone in the L II Series with a worldwide roll out of the device.

The dual-SIM Optimus L5 II will be initially available in Brazil followed by single and dual-SIM models in South and Central America, Europe, Asia, Russia, the Middle East and Africa.

"The Optimus L5II will offer consumers another great option among devices in the premium 3G market," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.  He added, "We believe that the Optimus L5II will prove to be irresistible to people looking for a feature-rich smartphone that complements their unique and individual styles."

The Optimus L5 II sports a 4-inch WVGA screen with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on-board. It comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash.

Internally, the device is powered by a 1GHz single core processor with 512 MB RAM. There's 4GB of internal storage and a 1,700mAh battery. The L5 II will be available in colour variants of Indigo Black, White, Pink, Titan.

The Optimus L5 II comes with new UX enhancements like Quick Button, which enables users to customise the Hotkey to launch various functions such as QuickMemo, camera, internet, music or any other app. The Quick Button can be programmed so that in camera preview mode, pressing the button captures the photo and activates QuickMemo at the same time so editing and sending images can be performed more easily.

LG has also added Safety Care to the L5 II, which allows the user to alert pre-selected recipients in urgent situations with three useful functions that include Emergency Call Forwarding, Phone Non-Usage and My Location Notice.

LG CEO said in the event that they would like to make 4G LTE more popular by having these two devices infiltrating the market. Optimus F5 comes with a 1.2 GHz duo core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage (supports maximum 32GB microSD card), 4.3-inch IPS (256ppi), 5 mega pixel rear camera, 1.3 mega pixel front camera and a 2150 mAh battery. Having the same android 4.1.2 system as F5, F7 is powered with a 1.5 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, 8GB storage (32GB maximum storage with microSD card), ;.7-inch true HD, 8 mega pixel camera and 1.3 mega pixel front camera and a 2540 mAh battery.

True LTE is getting popular and commonly accepted. The thing is, despite the fact that LTE can be adopted by non-heavy use models, how the technical specification can meet with the demanding battery and processor requirements of LTE? Battery performance, especially, is falling behind the technology right now. Having LTE popularized isn’t a matter, but users need to have a capable phone to use it. LG and other firms should really think about this. Pursuing LTE is great, but hardware is lagging behind.

From one two-lettered company to another. RIP WebOS, we knew ye well.
New reports are stating that HP has just sold WebOS, it’s code, it’s brand, and it’s employees to LG. LG is reportedly going to use the code to develop a more user friendly Smart TV. They haven’t necessarily ruled out mobile devices, but their focus is definitely on television.
The news comes shortly after HP announced their new line of Android tablets yesterday. If you don’t remember, HP purchased the struggling Palm and proceeded to reanimate WebOS and kill it off shortly after without really doing much with it. HP showed that they were simply more invested in Windows devices at the time, and now they have added Android to that line up.
While there is still a future for the underdog platform, it’s a long way from what it aspired to be when it was released. Come whatever may, we’ll never forget that pebble phone that tried so hard to be your one and only.

The popular smartphone became available again in Germany earlier today, and it will now ship from the U.S. Google Play store to buyers in one to two weeks. Google also added Canada to the lineup.

The Nexus 4 is now back in stock in the U.S. Google Play store.

Germany isn't the only country getting more Nexus 4 inventory today. The popular Google smartphone is now available in the U.S. and Canadian Google Play stores, as well.

The device, which costs $299 for the 8GB version or $349 for the 16GB model, will ship in one to two weeks for U.S. buyers, the site says. That's a big improvement from the recent wait times, as well as the general unavailability of the device. The phone earlier today also became available again in Germany, and it hit Canada shortly after arriving in the U.S. Google Play store.
The LG Nexus 4 has been selling out pretty rapidly since its November launch, with users forced to wait many weeks for the device to ship or to even show availability online. The smartphone is one developed closely with Google, giving a pure and polished experience with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, as CNET reviewers have noted. However, it also lacks 4G LTE capabilities, though that doesn't appear to be hurting demand for the device.
The Nexus 4 sold out in less than half an hour the day it was released in mid-November.
A Google executive last month blamed LG for the shortage, saying supplies from the company have been "scarce and erratic." The company at the time vowed to improve the situation and said it should have good news to share shortly.
